Pure 1940s! This is a great specimen, a fine example of the heavy, dense,
woven corde bags coveted by women who likely served (in some capacity) during
WWII. It’s a large envelope bag with a heavy duty brass zipper closure.
Dangling from the end of that closure, via a petite chain, is the star of the
show: a graceful twist of smooth and textured lucite, carved with a design of

We have a suggestion: use this bag to tote your ipad or kindle or small
laptop. It is lined in black cloth and the woven corde cover is thick enough to
act as a shock absorber. Or: use it as a purse! What the heck! Inside is a
zippered compartment -- that will come in handy.

Note: Although the overall condition on this purse is good, the “leash” that
attaches the handle to the bag is not original. The original, a rope of sorts
made of woven corde, had frayed enough to make it unreliable. We replaced it
with a black leather strip (repurposed from a beat up jacket). We think the
leather looks fine, but if you’re a purist and would like to restore the
original, you’ll find it in the bag.
